| Two six-story office buildings are flanked by eight-level garage structures with the new Austin City Hall sandwiched between. The rust-colored, stacked limestone facade integrates the garage and office buildings into a single structure, visually. Cast-in-place flat plate concrete construction in the office buildings allows increased daylighting at the building perimeter and eases coordination of the mechanical systems. | |||||||||||
| "The
strength of the CSC complex is in its urbanity. Its buildings were conceived
as part of a civic and commercial landscape, not as discreet, grandstanding
objects." David Dillon, Architectural Record, 6/2002 |
