LOCATION Austin, Texas
AREA 650,000 sf
COST $137,000,000
ARCHITECT PageSoutherlandPage with Lawrence Speck, FAIA.

The exposed steel truss and cable purlins of the soaring airside concourse roof, the intricate entrance canopies, and the monumental concrete and granite entrance columns are examples of structure being used aesthetically. These structural elements reinforce the architectural theme of high technology grounded in traditional materials. The exterior curtain wall, stairs, handrails, and concourse kiosks also evolved, through collaboration between architect and engineer, as primary aesthetic structures.

**G. Charles Naeve, Engineer of Record. Jaster-Quintanilla & Associates, Firm of Record.

"The subliminal architectural message is that Austin is a lively, open and sophisticated city. And the new terminal is all of those things."

Susan Williamson, AIA, Texas Architect, 11/12 1999
